MasterCom Capital intends to present a new offer for Botafogo’s SAF by the start of next week. According to reporting by O Globo, later carried by FogaoNET, the US-based group promises to improve its initial US$30 million bid and include financial guarantees.
The project outlined by MasterCom Capital is centered on technology, data and artificial intelligence across scouting, academy development, performance, injury prevention and opponent analysis. The group also promises short-term investment to deal with transfer bans and strengthen the squad.
Race Remains Open
The move comes as the battle for control of Botafogo’s SAF continues. GDA Luma is seen as the favorite behind the scenes, with a reported proposal around US$105 million. John Textor, removed from command of the SAF, has also submitted an offer that could reach US$95 million, involving arrangements with Ares Management and contingency funds.
The financial backdrop matters. Botafogo is in judicial recovery, has accumulated FIFA transfer bans and is looking for a corporate solution after the dispute with Eagle. That is why the promise of guarantees carries as much weight as the final number of the bid.
Who Could Lead The Project
According to the same reporting, Victor Santos is a candidate to become CEO of the SAF if MasterCom Capital’s proposal moves forward. The Brazilian-American executive has worked in technology and fintech companies, and holds a degree from Berkeley and an MBA from Wharton.
The offer still needs to be formalized under new terms. Until then, MasterCom Capital remains a developing alternative while Botafogo compares value, guarantees, execution capacity and immediate impact on football operations.
